Progress Report:

Jeeven Prabhat Pondicherry Project

By Joginder Kundra

In our September News Letter, we made a humble request to our Arya Samaj family for request for funds to complete the Jeevan Prabhat Project in Pondicherry. This facility in its first phase is to house 50 orphaned and extremely poor children.  As noted in the attachment a sum of $100,000 was initially raised by North America Arya Samaj to purchase the land and build the boundary wall.

Another $156,000 was raised for the aboveground construction by generous contributions by six Arya members who gave from $11,000 to $51,000/each. These Arya Samaj members are not rich people. They are just ordinary people and some even retired. They went into their deep pocket to give children in Pondicherry a chance in life, which otherwise could not be possible.

The aboveground part of the project is now estimated to cost additional $70,000 above the $156,000 already raised. This is due weaker dollar and increase in material cost due to inflation and high demand of construction materials. After our September request we received a very generous contribution of $5,000 from Smt. Santosh & Dr. Ved Aggarwal from Houston. We would need more generous people to fill the remaining gap of $65,000.

Arya Pratinidhi Sabha America is fully committed to complete this project. Such a noble cause can’t be made to suffer for lack of funds.  This second appeal for funds is to urge everyone to participate in such a noble project. No matter how big or small is your contribution, everyone should participate. Let us all work as a family and share this social as well a moral responsibility. We want to give these children an opportunity to succeed.

Those who have already raised their children may imagine for a second, if their youngest offspring just happened to be a twin, would you have done any less for the child you did not expect. Let each one of us take this opportunity to raise another child, for fraction of cost.

Doing Karma should continue to the last breathe.
